5 Takeaways from the 2019 Startup Grind
Do you own a startup? Then surely you’ve heard of Startup Grind, the largest network of startup owners in the world! Founded in 2011, Startup Grind is based on a simple concept: interview a successful entrepreneur or investor in front of a live audience and share the video online.
Once a year, Startup Grind goes global, taking its concept to the next level. The annual Startup Grind Global Conference attracts some of the most famous entrepreneurs in the world, and Advisori Finance was thrilled to attend this year, working with Intuit QuickBooks to answer questions for QuickBooks users.
In case you missed it or want to hear more about the conference, here is a recap of this amazing event:
Taking place in Silicon Valley, the 2019 Startup Grind Global Conference was held on Feb 12-13 at the Fox Theater in Redwood City. Over 8,000 people, including startup founders, investors, and educators who are influential in the startup world, as well as professional service providers such as attorneys and CPAs were in attendance. During the course of the two-day conference, Startup Grind took over the downtown area of Redwood City and dominated with streets outside of the FOX theater.
Here are my top five takeaways from the 2019 Startup Grind Global Conference:
1. The technology:
In three tents, over 200 startups from all over the world exhibited their booths. The startup scene reminds me of a farmers’ market. Imagine you are at your local farmers’ market: if you replace the food stands with technology startup stands, you get the picture of the vibrant atmosphere at the conference. Startups were showing demos to their potential customers and investors, and also collecting real-time feedback about their products.
2. The network:
Network, network, network! Startup Grind Global Conference provided hours of impactful networking and the perfect environment for startup owners and professional investors to meet and brainstorm. Whether you need a co-founder, funding, attorneys or CPAs, you can find the resources you need within a couple blocks of Fox Theater.
3. The education:
During the two days, with six stages of highly educational content provided by over 100 world-class speakers, thousands of entrepreneurs and innovators were looking to learn from thought leaders in the industry. It was impossible not to walk away from the event highly inspired!
4. The community:
Startup Grind has over 600 chapters in more than 120 countries and hosts regular networking events and conferences locally. With such a robust community, it is easy to stay connected and involved. Startup Grind encourages entrepreneurs to join a local chapter or even start one if there is not a local chapter already.
5. The parties:
The pub crawl was a blast: groups of attendees went to 15 different pubs in downtown Redwood City together. Tech giants like Intuit QuickBooks threw an invite-only party for startup owners to mingle and learn about each other. Needless to say, handshakes were everywhere, and connections were made.
Over the course of the conference, the Advisori Finance team helped answer hundreds of people’s questions related to finance, accounting and accounting related software. We also made friends from all over the U.S. and even countries like Germany, Chile and more! It was such an exciting experience to talk to startup owners face-to-face to answer QuickBooks questions for them. It was truly a blast and we look forward to the next Startup Grind Global Conference to come!
